Alex has football in his genes. He is the son of Edwin Smith, who played for the Denver Broncos from 1973-1976. Alex attended Mullen High School in Denver, Colo., and earned varsity letters in football, basketball and track. He helped lead the Mullen High School football team to the Colorado 5A championship as a junior. At Stanford University, Alex was an Economics major and became one of the best tight ends that the Cardinal has ever had. He was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 3rd round of the 2005 NFL draft and looks to continue to be a valuable receiver and blocker for the Bucs in 2008; his third season with the team.
